The Leichter Panzerspähwagen were a series of light four-wheel drive armoured cars produced by Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1944. It utilized the conventional sPkw We Horch 801 chassis with an angled armoured human body and turret. The rear mounted motor was a 67 kW (90 hp) Horch 3.5 petrol motor, offering it a road speed of 80 km/h and a cross-country speed of 40 km/h . It had a maximum array of 300 kilometer. Employed by the reconnaissance battalions (Aufklärungs-Abteilung) for the Panzer divisions, the kind performed good enough in countries with good road systems, like those in Western Europe. However, in the Eastern Front andNorth Africa, this course of automobile had been hampered by its fairly bad off road performance. In those theaters, it slowly found itself changed into the reconnaissance part by the Sdkfz 250 half-track.
