The GMC CCKW is a 2.5 ton 6X6 U.S. Army cargo truck that saw solution in World War II and also the Korean War, often referred to as the "Deuce and a Half" or "Jimmy". The CCKW arrived in many variants, based on the open or closed cab, Long Wheel Base (LWB 353) or brief Wheel Base (SWB 352). At first all versions were associated with the shut cab design (having a metal roof and doors) with all steel cargo beds. But because the war progressed an available cab version was designed that had fixed “half doors” and a canvas top/sides, because of the metal sleep being replaced by a wood one to save metal. The lumber bed proved unsatisfactory and a “composite” sleep with metal sides and framing but with wooden slats for the bed was created. Later on the wood/steel composite sleep had been replaced by an all metal composite bed.
