The B-24 Liberator was among the best known American long-range bombers, commonly used during World War II, as well as its companion and rival, the B-17 Flying Fortress. It can be recognised because of its “double drift” tail. It was created and built by Consolidated at the start of the 1940’s. The B-24 D had been initial bombing version built on a big scale from 1942, with nearly 3,000 devices built through the conflict. Powered by 4 Pratt & Whitney R-1830-43 1,200hp engines, with Hamilton-Standard propellers which forced it to a maximum rate of 467 km/h, it removed an unpleasant payload of over 3,600 kg in bombs. It had been utilized on all fronts, both in European countries plus in the Pacific.
