The Short Stirling was initial four-engined British hefty bomber of Second World War. The look had high wing, four machines and also the cabin elevated over the fuselage. The airframe had been fully built in steel. Another features that characterised the bomber had been the impressive size associated with landing gears. The first bombers went to equip the Royal Air Force Bomber Command Squadrons from end of 1940. The Operational status was reached on January 1941 together with first war objective was dated February 1941 against logistic installation in Rotterdam. Stirling Mk. I became able to carry an important offensive load of over 6,000 Kg of bombs and had been armed with eight 7.7 mm device firearms for protection. However the performance and the reliability of the Stirling wasn't therefore impressive plus it was changed, in only 2 yrs, by newer and efficient bombers for instance the Halifax and also the Lancaster.
