The heavy tank Sd.Kfz 182 Panzer VI Ausf. B "King Tiger" came into service with the German army since mid 1944. Versus its predecessor, the Tiger we, several differences and improvements have already been used : an entirely new chassis, a stronger armor characterized by the sloped front hull (bringing to an overall total fat of nearly 70 tons) while the life-threatening 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 weapon as main armament. Because of its Mayback V-12 engine the King Tiger surely could reach the utmost rate of 42 Km/h. For the mass manufacturing two different turret solutions has been used : the Porsche turret, at the start, and the Henschel turret for the all the devices produced. Both ot them were able to load 80 rounds for the primary cannon. The first combat utilization of the King Tiger was by the 503^rd Heavy Panzer Battalion through the Battle of Normandy on July 1944.
