In the spring of 1949 initial routes of Skyblazers Air Demonstration Team took places in the skies over Europe during the airbase in Furstenfeldbruk, Germany. The pilots had been an element of the 22nd fighter squadron from 36th Fighter Wing as part of the USAFE (united states of america Air Forces in European countries). The team had been instructed by the USAFE headquarters to generate an aerobatics group using F-80B aircraft and perform demonstrations throughout Europe.Soon afterward the group was handed modified F-84E Thunderjet aircraft. The 50-caliber machine weapons were taken from the front regarding the aircraft for better control into the demonstrations. By summer time of 1952 the group had done more that 260 air demonstrations in more than 12 countries.In 1953 the team came beneath the demand of this 48th Fighter-Bomber Wing based in Chaumont, France. After that they shifted towards F-86F Sabre jet for the following 3 years. During this time period the team proceeded to do atmosphere demonstrations throughout Europe utilising the F-86. In 1956 they had been relocated back again to the 36th Fighter Wing and stationed during the airbase in Bitburg, Germany.During this time around a brand new air demonstration group situated in the U.S. called the Thunderbird was indeed created. In 1962 using the growth of mid air refueling, the Thunderbirds had the ability to make the trip to Europe for demonstrations. This eliminated the necessity for a team based in Europe and Skyblazers were officially disbanded.
