This device, that will be considered the ancestor of this contemporary helicopter, appears in a drawing dated approximately 1480 within theCodex Atlanticus. Leonardo outlines the plan for an “aerial screw”imagining it as a worm screw with a diameter of approximately 5metres, in their motives, it should have “screwed it self” in air takingadvantage of its density. Moved by the muscle strength of four menwalking on the main platform, it contained a wooden structurecovered with starched linen fabric. Since there is no proof that Leonardoactually built the device he imagined, it stays one of hismany theoretical insights.
