Mameluks wore Turkish costumes and kept them even with they passed in French solution. Enlisted in the Imperial Guard cavalry, they certainly were unmistakably familiar for the shape of their uniforms, the cahouk with turban plus the curved blades of Mameluke sabres. History recalls their fee from the Tzar's Guard Cavalry at Austerlitz.
