• During 1940, while 2nd WW currently started, the General Staff of United States announced a competition for the construction of a light automobile with four-wheels drive that could serve for a lot of purposes. The tender had been attended by the United states Bantam Company, the Willys Overland engine and Ford engine Co. The decision fell on Willys, which, after a pre-production of 1500 automobiles, from 1941 was placed on the set up lines and stated in 640,000 devices, 277,000 which were produced from Ford. It was the key reason why the "Jeep" had been the automobile mostly produced from the armed forces industry during the 2nd WW.Immediately following the war, the Carabinieri Army had been designed with Jeep from different A.R.A.R. camps (camps where Italian, German and allies army automobiles left in the Italian peninsula at the end for the war had been gathered), which remained operating until the 'beginning regarding the 50s, as soon as the cars started initially to be already too worn from the usage.
