The Leopard 2 originated in '70s to fulfill the particular need regarding the western German Army to have a new modern and efficient principal Battle Tank able to change the Leopard 1. It's armed with a 120 mm weapon and, as a result of its V-12 twin-turbo diesel engine, with the ability to achieve the utmost speed of 68 Km/h. It entered service in 1979 but, constantly improved in technology, armament and armour, it's still today considered among the best Main Battle Tank on the planet. The Leopard 2 A6, in more detail, is an absolute improvement set alongside the first versions. Armed with a 120mm Rheinmetall L / 55 smoothbore weapon, its equipped with a modern third generation composite protections. The turret shape together with mantlet profile are developed to attenuate the impact of enemy hits and anti-tank tools.
