Mameluks wore Turkish costumes and kept them even after they passed in French service. Enlisted into the Imperial Guard cavalry, they were unmistakably familiar the model of their uniforms, the cahouk with turban and also the curved blades of the Mameluke sabres. History recalls their fee contrary to the Tzar's Guard Cavalry at Austerlitz.
