The Sd.Kfz.251 half-track was an armored fighting vehicle (AFV), that has been implemented by the Wehrmacht on all operational fronts during the Second World War. Running on a Maybach 6-cylinder petrol engine it had been able to achieve a speed of 55 kilometer / h even on ‘off road’ landscapes. Manufactured in huge figures, it was used mainly to transport ‘Panzergrenadiers’, but throughout the war a few versions had been developed to meet differing operational demands. The half-track Sd.Kfz. 251/8 ‘Krankenpanzerwagen’ was outfitted and deployed as an armored ambulance operating near the frontline. It was effective at holding as much as eight seated casualties or four seated casualties and two stretcher cases, and also the necessary first-aid along with other medical equipment.
