At the start of the 2nd WW, the uk would not have all technical gear required for such a conflict, therefore plenty of cars had been purchased urgently. Motorcycles, mainly used by the well known DR “Dispatch cyclists” for communication between various units, were converted from civilian bikes with little changes, like army color therefore the addition of frames for the canvas bags. Triumph proposed in short time the model 3HW, on the basis of the civilian “Tiger 80”, with an overhead valve motor and parallel forks.This model served on all fronts in which the British Armed Forces fought, such as for instance Africa, Europe and Asia. After 2nd WW these motorcycles were delivered to many other nations, including Italy and Greece, in which the Triumphs served for some time as a result of their reliability and robustness.
