Development of the Panzer III began inside mid-1930s with the aim to make it the backbone for the armoured battalions for the Wehrmacht, alongside an inferior range heavier tanks (Panzer IV). Initially armed with a 37mm cannon, the Panzer III relocated rapidly to a 50mm cannon and, inside upgraded versions (Ausf M and L), to your 75/24 weapon with 64 rounds already utilized on the Panzer IV. Manufacturing ceased in August 1943.
