Bf 109E started arriving at the Jagdgrupen through the autuma of 1939 with II/JG 54 receiving some of the very first macnines. On 22 November an E-3 dropped into Allied arms when a pilot from II/JG 54 crashlanded near Worth, some twenty miles inside France. THis device will never only be tested by the French but was in change provided for England and eventually toward U.S. for assessment. The newest, faster and harder-punching aircraft were extremely welcome toward young luftwaffe pillots that, occasionally, were literally fighting for his or her lives against Allied pilots.
