• After the Yamaha YZR500 won the World Championship in 1975, Yamaha&39;s 2-stroke 500cc GP racers began their reign as top category machines within the Bike Off-road World Championship. Starting in 2002, 4-stroke 990cc racers were allowed to engage and to allow mixed races, as a brand new class named MotoGP is made. Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki while the Aprilia entered 4-stroke devices to compete against 2 stroke devices during a season that had fans in the side of their seats. In 2002 period, Yamaha joined 8 machines under 4 teams. The factory team was designed with a 2-stroke YZR500. The year 2002 marked Japanese rider Norifumi "Norick" Abe&39;s 7th complete year on the planet Championships as he raced again under the Antenna 3 Yamaha d&39;Antin Team. The team&39;s machine ended up being the most recent development regarding the YZR500.
