This model illustrates the unique Inter-coloring version YZR-M1 that raced in the 2005 U.S. MotoGP. The commemorative special edition bicycle ended up being produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this founding of Yamaha Motor. Tamiya?s model faithfully replicates the distinctive markings of U.S. Grand Prix version, with the compact and streamlined form of the 2005 YZR-M1.

The distinctive yellow body with black strobe pattern is based on the image colors of Yamaha Global Corporation (Y.I.C.), predecessor of Yamaha Motor Corporation United States Of America founded in 1977. It had been the coloring featured on the YZR500 which won three consecutive 500cc Grand Prix in 1978-80. This coloring and visual has long been popular with fans, and it is a significant part of Yamaha racing history. Gauloises Team Yamaha selected this color scheme because of its unique version bicycle that raced within the 2005 MotoGP Round 8, U.S. Grand Prix.
