The CX500 made its debut in 1980 within IFMA trade show in Cologne, Germany. The Honda CX500 Turbo, which was released in 1981, had been the world&39;s first turbo-charged motorcycle. Turbocharged engines offered greater energy and torque for greater performance, but additionally caused a delay in throttle response during acceleration. The wait in throttle reaction presented technical challenges for turbocharged motorcycles. Honda and IHI (Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries) overcame this dilemma by using computerized fuel injection to give the engine with the optimal level of fuel constantly. The CFI transformed the V2 OHV motor, which produced 48hp and 4.1kg/m of torque into a top performance motor with 78hp with 7.5kg/m of torque. Other higher level consist of a cowling, Honda&39;s Pro-Link rear suspension, and a 4-step adjustable anti nosedive front suspension system. The CX500 was effective at a maximum rate of over 120mph.
