The 1st-generation Honda City had been a sensation due to its intriguing "Tall Boy" human body styling. The completely redesigned 2nd-generation City released in October 1986 showcased the lowest, wide body design notable for the longer bonnet, short front and rear overhangs, including a generally flush body shape. The lightweight and efficient 76hp 1,237cc SOHC motor with four valves per cylinder had been equivalent in performance to comparable DOHC machines during the time. Front MacPherson struts and a rear rigid torsion beam suspension ensured the automobile had been quick.
