To be able to protect the vital shipping roads that spanned their vast empire, the British Navy built numerous destroyers in the years leading up to WWII. The nine vessels associated with E Class, Exmouth, Echo, Eclipse, Electra, Encounter, Escapade, Escort, Esk, and Express were completed in 1934 and participated in many important naval battles throughout the war such as the hunt for the Bismark while the Battle of Java water.
