Tamiya announces the release of the up-armored KV-1B in our ever-growing 1/48 MM Series. Display it because of the formerly released KV-1 showing the distinctions involving the two, line it with this other Russian vehicles like T-34 and GAZ-67B, or pit it against its German adversaries like Tiger we and Panther in battle dioramas.

　

In regards to the KV-1B Armed with a robust 76.2mm primary gun and loaded with 75mm frontal armor, the KV-1 tank was an unpleasant shock the German military when they invaded Russia in summer of 1941. Impervious to nearly all anti-tank guns, the KV-1 became a solid opponent, but the introduction of more recent, stronger German tanks lessened its benefit whilst the war proceeded. In reaction, extra armor dishes were bolted on the hull and turret to increase protection, causing the KV-1B variant.
