Towards German Sdkfz 131 MarderII SP
In 1942, Germany developed a new automobile which was on the basis of the Panzer II hull rn and armed with the 75mm PaK 40 to counter superior Russian tanks. This rn vehicle was officially designated the Sd.Kfz. 131 and became known as the Marder rn II. It was suited to ambushing enemies from hidden roles. Manufacturing rn for the Sd.Kfz. 131 began in June 1942 and 531 examples were produced. They served rn to protect the infantry from Russian tanks until more capable tank destroyers rn were implemented on frontlines.
