To counter the increasing danger of the German anti-tank forces, the Russian Army created the KV-1B, a greater version of their KV-1 heavy tank, in 1940. It featured extra armor plates bolted to the turret and hull, leading to increased armor thickness of 120mm in the turret front side as well as 110mm regarding the turret sides and hull front side. It featured more solid security, but at precisely the same time this reinforcement increased the tank&39;s weight and therefore reduced its mobility. The bolt-on armor was later changed to a welded application for greater effectiveness. . The Tamiya 1/35 scale model is a faithful reproduction model kit which was initially introduced in 1988.
