Of the many variables that occur during any conflict, supply and mobility would be the many pressing. Germany realized this particular fact very early in World War 2 and demonstrated use of support vehicles in their early "Blitzkriegs". They had developed many automobiles for differing purposes, and a very effective on was the Sd.Kfz. 251 half-track. This semi-tracked vehicle became the centerpiece of their mechanized corps through the entire conflict. Production began in 1939, therefore the show is divided into four types, from Ausf.A to D. according to the variations in design and its own manufacturing period. Early models used a tremendously complicated hull construction, composed of obliquely put armor plating. It was somewhat simplified in the C and D types, to create mass production easier. The final "D" version appeared in 1943, and it became the most widely used type of the four variations. Of the numerous types produced, the fundamental personnel provider was the Dd.Kfz. 251/1. Running on the Maybach HL42 six cylinder engine, it had a premier speed of 53km/h and a range of 300km. It was armed with two MG42 device firearms plus automatic rifles for the team, and might carry twelve fully equipped soldiers. This versatile half track had been also the foundation for numerous self-propelled weapon systems, of installed to its framework. More than 10,000 of D kind half-track as well as its variants were produced.
