About the Hetzer In 1943, the German high command ordered growth of a fresh purpose-built tank destroyer to change most of the interim automobiles just like the Marder, together with Hetzer was quickly designed to satisfy this requirement. Based on the Panzerkampfwagen 38(t), the Hetzer housed a team of 4 in its low, compact hull. It absolutely was armed with a robust Pak 39 L/48 75mm gun in a fixed mounting and showcased sloped armor for improved protection. 2,584 had been produced by May of 1945, and changes were constantly added during production, causing differences between very early, mid, and belated manufacturing models.
