In the initial phases of WWII, the German military frequently used the Sd.Kfz.231 show vehicles for reconnaissance missions. One of these hefty armored vehicles was the Sk.Kfz.232, which was loaded with a long distance cordless radio with a large antenna protruding through the the surface of the upper hull. Inside turret was a 2cm weapon and a MG34 machine gun. The 8- wheeled, Sk.Kfz.232 had an on-road top speed of 90km/h, front and rear driving roles, and an excellent 8 wheel drive system. The Sd.Kfz.232 done extremely well and proved its worth in a number of functions on many fronts from Europe to North Africa to Russia.
