This model faithfully recreates the German Self-Propelled Howitzer Wespe. It's a vintage model from within the Tamiya catalogue, but this version includes updated parts and new marking alternatives for cars that fought on the Italian front.
Initially created as a stopgap, with a production run of 676, this Pz.Kpfw.II chassis-based howitzer surpassed German objectives. Meant mainly for infantry support, the Pz.Kpfw.II’s going turret was replaced with a boxy stationary superstructure designed with the sort 18/2 10.5cm L/28 howitzer. Whilst the team of 5 were not endowed with overwhelming security, their car was a mobile hazard to Allied forces however.
