The 1997 911 GT1 competition vehicle is a vintage R/C model in the Tamiya catalog of set up kits. Originally released because the Le Mans race car replica, this kit recreates the “Street Legal” automobile which was released for homologation purposes. This replica returns on TA03R-S framework, which will be a quick wheelbase variation of Tamiya's highly successful and fun TA-03 4WD touring automobile. The specific automobile debuted in 1996, and was a “street” automobile with an incredibly strong racing heritage – running on a 3.1-liter inline-six rear-mid motor creating nearly 600hp, it had been said to reach speeds all the way to 330km/h. The racecar took 2nd and third in Le Mans in 1996, and went one better with a 1-2 finish in 1998.
