Towards Team Vodafone AMG-Mercedes

Having removed the German DTM Drivers Championship in 2000 and 2001, the 2002 period had been fairly disappointing for Vodafone AMG-Mercedes driver Bernd Schneider, whom missed from their 3rd consecutive Drivers Championship by a mere 6 points. Striving to avenge the 2002 beat, Schneider maintained a narrow lead through the entire most of the 2003 season, taking a one-point lead over Christijan Albers into the final race regarding the period. With Albers suffering a puncture in the 27th lap, Schneider was able to take out the Championship, offering Schneider their third Drivers Championship in 4 years and also the Vodafone Mercedes connection their 2nd consecutive Team Championship.
