About the P-47D Thunderbolt Razorback
The P-47 was the initial single-seated fighter to be loaded with a supercharger combined with a 2000hp motor, allowing it to travel at exact same high altitude as bombers. Armed with eight 12.7mm machineguns, the Thunderbolt, using the P-51 Mustang, constituted the primary fighters of this US Army Air Force. This is the representation of P-47D early production that was nicknamed "razorback" because of the model of its top fuselage behind the cockpit. The P-47D ended up being a high-speed, high-altitude capable fighter and escorted the allied bombers that have been conducting raids over Germany. Its 1-ton payload and its robustness made the Thunderbolt the right aircraft for ground attacking missions.
