January 20 1940 saw the completion of construction associated with the Japanese Kagero class destroyer. Alongside her sis vessels Hatsukaze, Amatukaze, and Tokitukaze, she became area of the sixteenth destroyer unit beneath the command of this light cruiser Jintsu. The Yukikaze additionally participated in the withdrawal of Guadalcanal,also participated in ocean battles on Marianas additionally the Leyte Gulf.
