The Basis for a Champion
In 1963, famous Italian vehicle manufacturer Alfa Romeo released the Giulia Sprint GT, a stylish coupe with a 1600cc DOHC 4-cylinder motor. This car was further refined for motorsport use, while the result had been the Giulia Sprint GTA. The GTA showcased such performance modifications as lightweight aluminum body panels and a double plug ignition system which increased power to 116hp. Alfa Romeo&39;s motorsport unit, Autodelta, went even more and produced the full race-spec form of the GTA, which went on to win the European Touring Car Championship from 1966-1969.
