The Vickers Wellington had been a twin-engine, medium bomber designed in the mid-1930s at Brooklands in Weybridge, by Vickers-Armstrongs' Chief Designer, R.K. Pierson. It had been widely used in the first two years of World War II, before being changed as a bomber by bigger four-engine designs like Avro Lancaster. .The first main manufacturing variation had been the Mk IC which added waistline firearms toward Mk IA and a complete of 2,685 had been produced. The Mk IC had a crew of six; a pilot, radio operator, navigator/bomb aimer, observer/nose gunner, end gunner and waistline gunner.
