The 17 cm Kanone 18 in Morserlafette had been a German hefty weapon utilized in the 2nd World War. It had been designed to be used at the Corps level to offer really long-range counterbattery help. It filled exactly the same basic role while the 21 cm Morser 18, and sharing its carriage, and replaced it entirely after 1942. Though it had been technically a great gun, it had been high priced, difficult to maneuver, extremely slow to create and tear down; numerous had been lost when their team had either to abandon them or to risk capture by advancing allied troops.
