• The Douglas C-48 had been the designation given to 36 Pratt & Whitney powered DC-3s impressed by the USAAF following the Japanese assault on Pearl Harbor. These people were a mixture of aircraft currently operating (28 aircraft) and aircraft still in manufacturing (8 aircraft), and had quite a variety of facilities, including three with just ten seats that have been used as staff transports. Another six Pratt & Whitney aircraft had been impressed as C-52s, and two as C-68s.
